A fan of video games, comics, and nerdy stuff. I post randomly depending on my mood but trying out different formats and such. I used to write reviews for Spider-Fan and so I’m trying to get back into that a bit.

Decided a few days ago to pick back up “Vampire Survivors”, because it’s been awhile. Several days later and now I can’t stop playing and there’s still tons of stuff to unlock from the dlc updates. Can’t they see I’m in too deep?!

Merry Christmas!

The George C Scott version of “A Christmas Carol” is still just an absolute delight- granted my other experiences are “Mr. Magoo” and “Mickey Mouse”, but you know, I think this Scott guy might actually be just as talented.

Some super job packaging there, Amazon. You could hit roughly 20 more books in there. I can’t wait for my next package to be loosely wrapped and fragile.

…they seriously censored his name?? Is this a joke??

To the person who broke into my car last night- why did you only take the anniversary card for my wife. I get it was the only thing of value in there, but I mean…that just seems like a real low priority for YOU. unless it’s also yours, in which case, congratulations!

Spider-Man: Torn is a fun series so far- I think this is the kind of story I miss now that all volumes have to be these long epic yarns. Back growing up, you might have a story like this where there’s some character stuff happening in the background and a story that’s not just spectacle.

Playing through the “Marvel: Cosmic Invasion” game and I like the way it builds on what was done with the TMNT game they made. Lots of little things to unlock and fun challenges for each stage. A great way to kill some time.

Catching up on the new “Spider-Man: Noir” series. I’m hoping things fall into place in the next few issues, otherwise it’s a little all over. I still think it would have benefitted to focus more on the Noir aspect and doing more of a crime story. The Nazi villain stuff kind of weighs it down

Watching “Merry Kissmas” for the How Did This Get Made livestream this coming week and I gotta say- this is a great, riffable flick. Some choice accent work, bizarre plot points, and stellar work with extras. A true holiday classix

So I just read the “Spider-Man Holiday Spectacular”. A cute story that brought back an element of Spidey that’s been missing for a long, long time- the other heroes respecting/liking him. He’s been kind of the punching bag for awhile. And I know for a long time he was not always trusted,

Our (almost) 4 year old loves “Mr. Blue Sky” but has not yet learned who sings it. I only told her “it’s not Cocomelon”so far. Which led to her asking Siri to “Play Mr. Blue Sky, by Super Simple Songs, on Spotify”

Not sure how to feel that it worked.

Ultimate Spider-Man #22- so many moving parts, I just wish this was going to go on a bit longer. Also, while I’m sure this isn’t a unique criticism, I wish Peter factored more in this series. Overall, it seems like there’s so much happening AROUND him and everyone else got to do something

Venom #251- after reading Immortal Hulk and Ewing’s last volume of Venom, this particular saga feels…very goofy? The last volume had its share of odd moments for sure, but this series feels much more light hearted, which is probably a reflection of MJ as the host. It’s definitely a unique take

Amazing Spider-Man 16/980- right now, I’m more interested in this story. Again, it’s a LOT of threads, which can leave the issue feeling a bit underwhelming at times. But I am genuinely interested in what will happen when Peter returns- I’m hoping it’s not totally brushed off. But, I also hope…

“Third movie is the best since first movie” is not quite the praise they think it is.

Amazing Spider-Man 15/979- still feels like a lot of set up and character introductions for a story that’s got such a limited run to it (they’re already advertising it ending). I feel like timeline wise they’re in a corner here with 1000 creeping up. I like the idea of what Kelly is trying here

Sharing this because it’s a cause I like to donate to and it’s helping kids and families who are maybe going through difficult times. Started by Chris Campana after what is just an absolute heartbreaking situation, this charity helps bring some light to others. If you can, any help is great

Read Amazing Spider-Man #978. I like the stuff happening on Earth, I just feel like we have a few too many plot threads happening here across issues that keep alternating. I’m loving Ben not being just another crazed villain, but I feel like Peter’s friend is going to turn at some point.

Re-read ASM 976 so I could read the issues I picked up today. I know this is a crazy comic world and all, but I really would just appreciate more stories allowing the characters to act more seriously and not always looking for the next laugh. This issue had a few moments of seriousness and…
Gonna do another hot take, but I’m still liking Joe Kelly’s work with Ben Reilly and Norman in ASM. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Ben get to be the science guy and starting to piece together more of what his life could have been. Like, more of this story and Ben developing a life, please.

So doing my comic catch up for the month. Read the last issue of “Eddie Brock: Carnage”. This series really just…there was a plan that they had to ditch like 3 issues in, right? It abandoned its basic premise immediately, it struggled to really land on a story, and it had to end abruptly.

I BOUGHT Silent Hill f today, but I need to wait for a) my young child to be asleep and b for it to be dark enough that I can actually see it. But I’m excited because I have very purposely avoided any info about it, so going in fully blind!

Having now seen “Fantastic Four: First Steps”, I will say the first half of the movie has some real pacing issues. But overall, there was a lot I liked! I would have liked to have more time to sit in and be introduced to the world they built or to understand some characters.
