huh, that’s funny. he found a creative way to explain away his waning cultural relevance. i’d take a form rejection from terry gross as a badge of honor; he took it as a sign to out himself as the conservative he always was.

i managed a movie theatre and was allowed to run some midnight movies for a couple seasons, but if i’d been able to do a double feature it would have been “willy wonka” (gene wilder) and “the 5000 finger of dr. t”

i’m in a weird vibe right now, rereading mcguane’s “92 in the shade,” with short stories by raymond chandler and elmore leonard on deck. but i’m heading to LA and points north and kinda want some west coast travel reads. thoughts?

Once while traveling in Germany I saw a poster for an election that had something like 30 different candidates for different parties on it and I asked somebody how their system seem to work and they said “coalitions are good.”
