Kind of joking here but also I do find it difficult to connect with “the unlaid young men problem” not because I’m a natural chad, but because I had to learn how to talk to people, engage with them, and be decent enough to form intimate connections. It’s hard but it’s possible! Just be normal!

Obviously context matters (if you’re saying “white people have good genes” then yeah that’s different!) but the phrase “x has good genes” is not necessarily a “measure” of one’s appearance, just a descriptor. It *can* be used in a racist/eugenics-y context, but it isn’t *always* that.

I uh strongly disagree that those are comparable statements. Calling an Asian kid smart is only racist if you are attributing intelligence to race; likewise saying someone has “good genes” does not in itself say anything about race, just that you find the person physically attractive.

I feel like at some point there’s been a conflation of “some traits are genetic” and “we should purge certain genetic traits deemed inferior.” Like if you believe in the first thing then you must necessarily believe the other thing. Very strange
