This week has been filled with disappointments. So today's treat was a necessary counterbalance. So if you're not feeling great, visit a local library. (Here in Minneapolis, our libraries even have Prince collections - books, art, albums). 💜🟣🟪☔️

They even had a display of Prince books. So I had to check one out. These are the amazing things that helped me adopt Minneapolis as my home and keep us on the Northside. The newly renovated branch had wonderful meeting spaces that allowed me to work remotely for the morning.

Started a great career w Hennepin County. Been to Paisley Park. The whole lot. But something super special happened today when the Hennepin Library system issued their Prince library card. I got up early and was the 1st to get one at his old local library branch (Sumner). The staff were excited too.

You had to check out a Prince book too (taken at Northside's Sumner Library) - I was Patron #!

-cultural competence training for NorthPoint Health and Wellness (#Minnesota's largest community health clinic), where his work led the clinic to host the the annual Northside Pride events

-organizing the major religious organizations (of several religions) to pass #Obamacare (including pushing them for a public option)
-countering religious exemptions for health care treatment and services for #reproductive care, #genderaffirming care, and care for the #LGBTQIA+ community

That bill produced HIPPA and other reforms, most of which he played a role in advancing in congress, in faith advocacy, or on the ground here in Minneapolis. Among his many accomplishments are:

He’s the only out #LGBTIA+ person running for #Minneapolis #Mayor. Upon election, he’ll be the first out gay black mayor of a major US City, and vows to NEVER leave our trans siblings behind.
