The hoops we had to jump through to make that software work on any modern OS were insane. There were DOSBox shells within DOSBox shells. It broke constantly. It took more time to construct the spiderweb of support programs necessary to run that program than it did to install the program itself.

I used to work for a county school system repairing computers and doing general on-site tech support. Every single school used AS/400 as their recordkeeping software, because they had people working there that learned AS/400 in 1988 and declined to learn anything else since.
