The walkbacks are scaring me off Silksong; one of my biggest pet peeves for games as I really don't see the value to the player.

I'd love to see someone do a deep dive on walkbacks and make an argument in their favor, though!

Similar to how building new housing is both going to increase housing prices and also attract the poor. No need to be consistent when the root argument isn't based on facts at all.

Great read and I'm with you on the expanding scope of modern AAA games. The Switch and Steam Deck got me back into gaming more regularly, but I've realized I prefer to find the more succinct narratives found in indies over the giant open world games.

The perpetual issue is that online discourse is dominated by a small population of online people and does a poor job of reflecting the actual discourse dominated by much less online (and generally older) people who lobby and attend meetings.

Perhaps; I would just caution making assumptions about a transit agency's operations without considering the political element. Operations can be made more efficient, but there may be a political component to why that hasn't been done.

The service cuts are a political move to apply pressure on Harrisburg, not a financial move. You don't threaten to cut rail service to the Main Line otherwise.

Exactly; not to mention that the vast majority of lost jobs in manufacturing over the last three decades are due to automation, not outsourcing. Outsourcing is just a convenient excuse; those jobs, if they come back, will be far more automated than they were when they left.

The nature of public investments in the US. If, by some miracle, we build public infrastructure, the discussion is generally focused on defending or defunding the investment instead of improving/modernizing it.
