It was a quirk of technology that animation was easier to automate than things like voice. Mocap still exists today in games for cases where you need high skilled non-dynamic performances. But it turns out that is not most cases, which is actually a good thing for games.

Easily the worst Battlefield campaign. I would love to know how that happened. It played like a first person shooter developed by a team that had never played a modern Battlefield or Call Of Duty campaign. Which clearly isn’t the case.
