Oh look, it's Ren Louie playing his old card routine.

Mr. Louie is attempting to act out a real-life sequel to Lynne Reid Banks' famous children's novel, except the focus shifts from furniture to textiles (pockets).
Stupid opinion letter in the Times Colonist. It reads: "Re: “Langford returns fire in war of words with Pacific FC,” Sept. 21. The City of Langford released a combative statement that could damage its relationship to Pacific FC. The correspondence should not have been made public. Although the city took that opportunity to raise concerns with the content of the agreement and the finances between the two entities, they undermined the charitable work that PFC does for the entire Capital Regional District. By failing to make mention of the important role that Pacific FC plays in bringing our community together, they could leave Indigenous nations, organizations and advocacy groups out in the cold. Allowing this team be relocated would be tremendously devastating, especially ahead of Truth and Reconciliation Day. On game day, we all wear our purple and white soccer jerseys and cheer our hearts out for the team we all know and love. The immense platform is not lost on Pacific FC, either. That is why their alternative 2024 Indigenous resilience jerseys not only brought people together, they also ensured the proceeds went to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society, among other groups. In the article, “Island’s Pacific FC unveils Resilience jersey benefiting Indigenous groups,” Paul Beirne, managing director of Pacific FC, states: “This jersey represents our commitment to using our platform to work towards a better future for Indigenous youth in our community.” I encourage the City of Langford to pause and reconsider their stance on this matter. They should take the time to understand the number of unintended consequences that could impact Indigenous peoples, among others. Ren Louie Langford"

It will just create more unaffordable housing — the same thing that has happened in Vancouver, New York, Tokyo and every other city in the world, including undesirable ones. Unaffordable housing is caused by inequality, not lack of density. Affordable housing for the working class is an aberration from the historical norm. Most of the working class was affluent enough to buy homes between 1945 and 1980. During this period, Western governments diverted wealth from the rich to the working class to make communism less desirable to workers. This is always how these government surveys go.

No matter the results, you can be sure that, according to the BC NDP, the survey data will support whatever plan they have to further weaken climate protections and increase subsidies to oil and gas, mining, and forestry companies.
