Anyhoo- I do also have a pride flag in my classroom. It’s hidden in plain sight & the students who need to know I’m a safe place recognize it while most people would gloss over & not notice.
All kids need & deserve respect. It’s a shame current political climate uses them for political scapegoats

Since then I’ve been in the local news a few times and my Scottish flag has been very visible in tech pictures. Not once has anyone complained about my flag. It’s rather telling that the complaint “the only flag” is really a Dog whistle for homophobia/anti-trans

At first I was worried parents would complain about this flag in my classroom, as I’ve heard that “The American flag should be the only flag in every classroom”. A few years ago a friend was in the news & her LQBTG+ flag was visible in the classroom. The hate online was palpable over this flag

A few years ago I redid my bedroom and decided to move my flag to my classroom. It’s a great talking point for my students and I (as most of my students are from immigrant families) & I share why branches of my family have come here to the US (Battle of Culloden aftermath, Irish Famine, etc)

Vivint is such a predatory company. When my dad passed we had the system installed to protect mom. When we canceled they still charged her CC monthly for a full year & every month we’d have to call them and they’d be like “oopsies”. I bet they rip off a lot of elderly people.
