That's why I discuss comics or books rather than authors per say. Hell, I LOATHE Grant Morrison's writing, but I have no opinion on the person. I enjoy some John Byrne books (favorite being his Iron Man), but I know full well he's a petty jerk.

To be fair, Denny O'Neil always wrote the cruelest version of Bane. Even in the novelization of Knightfall, Bane's knack for violence is more pronounced (& his end more reminescent of his "Batman Beyond" fate).

I know & I sympathize with your disappointment. But hey, many good writers can be utter pricks, it's a sad fact of life.

Honestly, after reading the behind-the-scenes, I really wish "Last Laugh" was allowed to have its intended consequences with the Joker's death and all (huge fan of the clown & Dixon & Beattie are among his best writers). But DC defanged it & didn't allow for a consistent art team...

Yeah, Dixon's 90's Bat work alongside Alan Grant and Doug Moench respective runs under O'Neil as editor is my favorite Bat-Era. So I also roll my eyes at these kind of statements he made.
