Well, yes, if it were done abruptly, then the UK Government would fall for sure. Pandemonium would ensue far worse than Brexit I'm sure. But removal, piece by piece... not a clue how that would shake down. Maybe Trident first, that would be a biggie.

Yes, that sounds more in line with what my thought processes are. The notion that setting a president now, can (inadvertently or otherwise) enable further abuse down line.

Implications to 'social programmes' or 'tax rises' are both impossible to answer objectively. I'm a citizen, nothing more. But for the 'subjective', I'd feel that if the UK were truly to remove US ties, I'd sacrifice tax to rid a tyrant without complaint and at any social cost. Get ye behind me etc

Ok, approaching this as a bystander. Rajiv's poser for me seems rather weak. Being that there has to be tangible evidence to support the notion that the "Responsibility to Protect" is in fact valid, what we have seen from Trump's targeting of boats hasn't contained such evidence. So it's not valid.

100%, though for msm/legacy media, I think it's much more to do with clicks, web visits, advertising & investment (exploitation is a specific journo trait). They really don't give a crap. The content they push has always been right-wing slop & lies, and with so-called 'AI' it's far worse now.
