Spent the last month helping to catch endangered badgers for the Badger Connectivity Project in Kamloops! We've been putting GPS harnesses on them to look at their movements around highways and see if we can reduce roadkill

Spotted handfish! Was lucky enough to see them diving in Tasmania and they are delightful (photo John Turnbull). Also red handfish theconversation.com/photos-from-...

Many carnivores use production forests worldwide. We recommend that production forests are managed as valuable carnivore habitat.

Strategies that may enhance the use of production forests by carnivores include maintaining a heterogeneous landscape with a mosaic of different forest ages, unharvested forest and riparian areas, and preserving diverse undergrowth and coarse woody debris.

Several carnivores - like this lovely devil mum - have been recorded denning and breeding in production forests. Production forests often influence the prey availability, hunting success and diet of carnivores.

Carnivores generally respond positively to habitat features such as riparian areas and coarse woody debris.

Interestingly, a high proportion of carnivore species use clearfelled more than unharvested native forest, possibly due to increased hunting success or prey availability in clearfelled forest for some carnivores.

Threatened species and large carnivores respond more negatively to production forests than non-threatened species and small carnivores respectively.

Carnivores generally show higher use of unharvested native forest and lower use of agricultural land than production forests.

We looked at the habitat use of production forests (plantations and harvested native forest) by placental and marsupial carnivores worldwide. We defined 'habitat use' broadly, lumping in abundance, occupancy and habitat selection among others measures.

Spent the weekend walking dogs for science! Partnered with the Humane Society in Detroit to see how increased dog presence affects coyote space use in parks

I'm Evie. I'm a new postdoc studying global patterns of human-carnivore conflict and coexistence at Yale. Did a PhD studying Tassie devils. I love bitey things.

Tassie really turned it on for my last night. Camped overlooking Freycinet with bioluminescence in the surf so every wave lit up as it broke. Really gonna miss this place but excited about the next adventure.

Thrilled to announce I'll be joining the AWE lab with
Prof. Nyeema Harris at Yale as a postdoc in Nov! I'll be studying global patterns of human-carnivore conflict and predator-prey dynamics
