I'm sure there are people in the clippy movement that could be called slacktivists, but there are so many fantastic things the movement has created.
One of many examples is the consumer protections wiki. I personally use it to vote with my wallet against companies that have anti consumer practices.

That more and more people are actively participating in a movement that, at least in my opinion, strengthens our individual rights.

The movement isn't about Clippy. Clippy is just a symbol. The idea is that when the time comes for you to make a difference, you'll do something.
Clippy is just a mascot for the movement.

Bug? Maybe. But Youtube removing features is nothing new. Wouldn't be surprised if they removed the search bar next.
