Keep your head on a swivel and watch out for your people
Micheal from vsauce and Hannah fry are doing a podcast + YouTube, and a recent episode was something like "numbers so large they break your mind"

Their visualization for 52! (Factorial, or the number of combinations in a deck of cards) was incredible.

Number line thing was from there as well

It's really good to put large numbers in context like this. I don't think most people realize exactly how large 1 billion is, let alone 780.

A good visualization is putting 10k and 1 billion on a number line and seeing where 1 million falls on it.

Tbf it was the same company a year ago... but still good on you for changing your opinion based on new informative

We were "paranoid"

Reminds me of

"Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they aren't after you."

Anyone local knew intuitively. The Morouns are a stain on humanity
I'm a few years into refusing to read anyone platforming Nolan Finley... so without reading I'm just going to assume the Morouns donated

I ran a few of my past assignments through a few different websites and never scored over 5%.
February 13, 2026 at 8:39 PM
to be clear, the prof responded to my request for clarification by emailing me, then immediately emailed the entire class with the "policy" prefaced with "Sorry, I'm reusing an old syllabus and overlooked adding an Ai policy"

Their policy scored from 35-85% ai generated btw, lol
February 13, 2026 at 8:37 PM
No.

That was my first inclination, but it sounded too accusatory and wasn't going to be helpful for future group interactions.

I'm kinda hoping the prof email will nip it in the bud... but I'm also considering referencing the email in our group chat to lightly make the point that it's not cool.

Very frustrating that there isn't a school wide policy, but thank you for confirming that!

I'm not really trying to get classmates in trouble... I just don't want that slop associated with me.
February 13, 2026 at 8:07 PM
No, my concern was how a group member's use of Ai would effect my grade (if caught) after I realized that a peer was "100% likely" to be using Ai for their assigned written responses.

Prof responded with a general policy to use Ai ethically (eg citations), w/o mentioning any consequences.

@erindwyer.bsky.social, as someone at the school but not at all associated with this specifically, can you point me towards any OU policy on student's use of ai?

I'm worried my professor is a bit technologically illiterate and may not recognize the signs.
February 13, 2026 at 6:35 PM
The syllabus doesn't have any policy, and the school only seems to have guidelines for their own use of Ai, not students... so I messaged the professor to ask them to clarify what is acceptable (without pointing any fingers!)

The moroun family are leeches, through and through

Some people would rather block someone than reconsider their position.

Ignorance is fine; we can all always learn more. Willful ignorance, however, is a pretty gross choice to make for oneself.

The agency is only 24 years old. We didn't need it before, and we definitely don't need it now. "Reform" is not enough

Abolish is the moderate position

If we want to go wild, abolish dhs and repeal the patriot act

So now cheeseburgers and teenagers are "flint all over again"

Instead of doubling down, try to understand why it's important to recognize different things can both be bad for different reasons, and deserve their own recognition of the causes and solutions.
February 12, 2026 at 2:35 PM
No, it really isn't (unless your only metric is unhealthy drinking water... in which case every dirty puddle of water is "flint all over again")

The cause and solution are entirely different

Looks like a lot of land available for the data center to purchase 1 GW worth of solar panels tied to the local grid

It's insane that we allow an international crossing to be private.

Close it down

Ya, and the Maroun family has been trying to hold up this new bridge for years, maybe decades

We have a handful of scummy billionaires in Detroit, but these are likely the most hated, and for good reason
February 11, 2026 at 12:31 AM
Oooo I called it. F the maroun family
