Oh and here's the starting area of the prototype from within #unrealengine (free assets for now). The "feel" of the day time is almost there.

I decided to add some basic ambient sound to my tiny prototype section of the larger open-world level in my #unrealengine project. I had no idea this would end up with a ton of beautifully red sphere wireframes 😅 This is probably not the most performant solution but who cares - it's a prototype 😇

I’ve begun actually registering how much time I spent on features in my prototype. Not for any particular reason but to see how long it’ll take me to make a mechanic. It’s quite interesting. Apparently it only took me 2,5 hrs. to implement a resting feature which I expected would take longer.

honestly, why do you make games?
March 31, 2025 at 6:56 PM
Having accepted the fact that I cannot create as high fidelity 3D models as my solo #indiedev #unrealengine game requires, I've begun working on designing my "enemies" within the game - not designing as in visual representation, but designing as in #gamedesign.

And oh boy, are you in for a treat...

Trying to create some first person arms for my game... I need to find a 3D partner in crime...

For a long while, I’ve been focusing on the technical implementation for my game. I’ve decided to take a step back and look at the backstory. That’s a quite interesting process, and nothing should be added to the game without meaning of some sort.

My game is set on an island and for now I’ve just used the default open world map from #ue5. Starting up the process of building the island. I guess I’ll have to look at tools like Gaea 😅

As I've been struggling to find any good resources to learn saving/loading in #unrealengine, I've decided to make my own resource available for others.

I've made part 1 out of 2 available on Medium, and hopefully this can help someone else.

I think I may have cracked the code in regard to saving/loading actors, uobject, player character, controller, inventory, game state, game mode... etc. in my #unrealengine game, utilizing FObjectAndNameAsStringProxyArchive. This is quite exiting 🥳

It’s a wonderful weather today. It’s great for sitting inside with #unrealengine open, working on my game 😅
March 6, 2025 at 1:49 PM
Anyone who made a save/load system in #unrealengine? Would be optimal to make it as a game instance subsystem? Something tells me it would make sense 🤔
March 2, 2025 at 9:51 AM
It feels great to finish a major gameplay mechanic and actually merge it into the main branch 😍 Finished my 3D physical inventory UI in my #unrealengine open-world survival horror #indiegame.

Next task: save/load game mechanic 💾

Okay, its time to dig back down into my game. I’ve almost managed to get a complete 3D physical inventory system working in #unralengine, and only have some minor details left. I guess my next task would be a save/load game system.
