Did USA Today add a paywall recently? Or has it always been this way?

On an entirely unrelated note, anyone know of a good browser plugin to get around major paywalls? Considering there is a about half a second where the whole article loads, this seems not too hard to do,

Making money off the implosion of the republic was expected for years but I couldn’t have imagined it would play out like this (I thought debt collapse but I guess there is still time for that). At least we can be rich while the world burns 😅

Serious question: Why do we spend so many billions on fusion research and relatively little on coming up with new drilling techniques? If we could drill a geothermal power station anywhere in the world that seems 90% as useful as fusion without having any issues with neutron activation.
