I believe this image expresses it all quite effectively, especially as a reflection of how the ultra-wealthy have absolutely no awareness, regard or concern for the suffering, exploited poorest peoples on earth.

For anyone interested: Ilya Prigogine wrote a book with Isabelle Stengers, his student and a philosopher of science whose work is well worth reading. This book, published in 1984, was in many ways, both foundational and profound.
