For sure! Awesome observation!Those pieces won’t fall off because I actually sewed them down incognito is most places. The underlying layers and overlaps catch everything.

No not all all! That is how it’s usually done. That method could not apply because of the sheer number of pieces and all the layers. The blue flowers are 3/4 layers. The 3rd and 4th layer will be added after it comes back from the longarmer!

Thank you so much!!! It was sitting with me in my heart for 5 years. I found the longarmer first. I needed someone who would not be intimidated with all the 3D and partially sewn down elements. Once I found her I started the quilt!

Thank you! It is raw edge appliqué, the pieces(flowers, leaves and stems) are individually cut and sewn down but not completely. They curl up and make it all 3D. The other elements are sewn to the background.
