Missing New Mexico
@desert-southwest.bsky.social

Trapped in northern Illinois, for now, most of the time. Daydreaming about New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada and some of the more arid parts of California and Texas.

This is just good form ... for every piece I write, there can be a lot of references. Also, there are a lot of things that I find (like my favorites on video and image hosting sites) that I'm not really going to write much of anything about.

Some people don't want to follow all of this.

I understand and respect that, so I separate my bookmarking content from my regular content. For those who want to keep up with those occasional floods of content, this is my bookmarking account

bsky.app/profile/dese...

and wow! will I be flattered if anybody follows that. Not sure I would.

I will tweet (or bleet or skeet or whatever we do around here) with the thought that others will retweet it in order to share with their followers. That being the case, I'm going to make a conscious effort to never delete anything from the bookmarking account without having a good reason.

There used to be something called "social bookmarking" and it was, at times, great, until it was largely killed off by the usual blight of the Internet (managerial ego tripping). People would get together, swap links and talk about their finds.

Let's try to bring that back. It was fun and helpful.

My homepage url looks random, because it was random. It goes to a real page, but the url for the page was randomized, for a reason.

The blog I've linked to is going to be a sort of chillspace for my followers on Bluesky, and maybe a few other sites. I want to keep the trolls out, if I can.

Trapped, but maybe not for much longer. The last few years have been cruel to most of Humanity, but they've been strangely kind to applied mathematicians, much of the time, and to engineers, sometimes.

Being both, I might be able to travel again, soon.
