which i think is just something we have to accept as a trait about the franchise. it’s a feature not a bug lol like there are things that make each entry distinctly kingdom hearts, even if they dont look like the ones that came before

like i find that donald’s AI always makes it such that Sora is the most effective healer. so give donald a healing kit that pushes him outside the action, focusing on avoiding enemies and keeping sora and goofy healed and buffed

eg donald white mage, donald black mage, donald battlemage. goofy guardian, goofy knight, goofy spellsword. each path learns different abilities and you class your characters based on what play style you like or challenges you want to create for yourself

my preference is for characters to have a series of canonical “paths” that allow for you to develop multiple strengths for your characters that work together in varying ways to allow a different play experience that fits within the game’s lore

and i mean like giving Goofy tank abilities like provoke and being able to take damage and hold aggro, turning off Donald’s offensive magic and giving him more healing/party buffs

and by “traditional FF elements” i mean like true party building. reclassing, party building (tho i liked not having to sacrifice Donald & Goofy for the locals in each world) but maybe allowing us to retool characters for certain challenges

i think about challenges like jumping from the branches in Wonderland, trying to reach the grab points of ledges in Monstro, Deep Jungle’s vine swinging!!! i can’t think of any comparable platforming in KH2, the worlds were very flat
