Cogito Ergo Zoom
Caught a matinee of Paranormal Activity at the Ahmamson, so wandered down here for an early post-show dinner.

It is cold and raining hard here in L.A., so; bourbon beef and farro stew. Decadent and so, so worth it. #blueskysupperclub

Happy Negroni Week!

Is this a fake holiday created by the Campari Group to goose sales of their amaro? Yes. Is it a delightful way to observe the autumn equinox with the perfect drink to lament the end of summer even while celebrating the onset of autumn? Also yes. #blueskysupperclub

Good morning for a drive.

A dinner experiment which I will pronounce a success. Lamb ragu from scratch (recipe of my own invention), with spicy Italian sausage. Garlic bread & steamed broccoli, with a California Merlot. Nom. #blueskysupperclub

7:30pm in Los Angeles and it’s 90 degrees; too hot to cook anything. So dinner is club sandwiches (I did fry some bacon) and store-bought potato salad & pasta salad. #blueskysupperclub

Dinner tonight was an attempt to recreate a memory from childhood. If you’ve been around long enough you may remember a Kraft savory chicken noodle dinner. It came in a box, the same size as a box of mac ‘n’ cheese, and had flat noodles and a chicken-flavored sauce. #blueskysupperclub /1

Peak civilization: enjoying a cup of coffee in one of Americas great train stations before boarding Amtrak for a day trip to San Juan Capistrano.

Los Angeles is such a war zone that I…took the subway out for a night at the theater.

Anyway, I wish I could’ve caught the London production spread across two shows, but I’m happy to have a chance to see the (slightly) slimmed-down version here at the tail end of its LA run.

You guys! Today I reach a pretty big milestone. More auspicious than a birthday, even - today I cross the Wilford Brimley/Cocoon Line, the age that Wilford Brimley was on the day Cocoon released in cinemas.

Was a guest for my sister-in-law’s beautiful wedding last night, and got a good chuckle out of this. Happy Pride month!

Just imagine how much excess capital is fruitlessly sloshing through the AI economy for a company to be able to afford airport marketing with sloganeering gibberish like this.

A very classy birthday girl having dinner at a very classy joint. Fun fact: Musso & Frank introduced Fettuccine Alfredo to America (by way of Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, who had it on their Roman honeymoon and brought the recipe back).

The labor/reward ratio for this one’s really lopsided, but Easter comes but once a year and it was admittedly delicious beyond words. Roast leg of lamb, roast taters, Yorkshire pudding, peas & gravy. #blueskysupperclub

This is the 50th running of the Long Beach Grand Prix, which means the race is the same age as me. Coincidence?

Just finished watching The Gorge (dropped today on Apple Tv+). It is, in its own very weird way, the perfect Valentine's Day movie. A little bit rom-com, a little bit horror, a little bit sci-fi, a little bit political thriller. / 1

I just watched Master & Commander, a film I’ve not revisited in probably 15 years. All I can think about is wanting to rewatch again soon and why isn’t there a UHD Blu Ray. Absolute banger.

Unusually good car-spotting at the Americana tonight. The Roma in particular is more fetching in the metal than in the photos I’ve seen.
