Haciendas (super large estates) reflected the large inequalities in Colonial Mexico. More than 500 years later, they continue to do so. They’re beautiful, though.

🚂Did railroads induce Mexican migration to the US? I find that proximity to rail lines increased migration rates, but explains only 60% of border crossings. Railroads catalyzed rather than determined the surge in Mexico-US mass migration, as traditionally believed.
