Goody Two Shoes. Fighting the far right in a northern seaside town.
As a small business owner I’m mixed about this.
Happy for staff
Worry I’ll have to raise prices to afford (hopefully not)

As a citizen I’m also mixed
Happy for staff affected
Concerned about the shrinking gap between this & public sector professional careers already dealing with retention crisis

My husband saw one of the incidents and struggled to sleep last night.
He was the one directing traffic away to allow the ambulance access as the second ambulance was blocked by the first one already parked.
The air ambulance couldn’t land because no one was listening to the police.

Carnage.

Now to be fair, my daughter and I did actually find a lovely African wood carving that had been genuinely gifted to the British/museum one time 😆

I don’t use motability though, despite being eligible. I have my own car bought outright. That may change when I decline enough to need a fully adapted car.

But I’d be lost without the societal benefits of PIP, it’s not just money and that’s been lost in the discussion.

I’m on PIP and relatively ok & I’d like to push back on this idea just a little bit.
While I can cope financially without PIP, it’s a gateway ‘proof’ of disability for blue badge/disability registration for congestion charge etc. These are benefits that transform my life separate to income.

The bigger issue for me is the price gouging for an appointment now vets have embraced the insurance model for dogs & cats.

£100 for a 2 minute meeting where I already know my piggy has ringworm, but just want to access the prescription. The £12 on top for the medicine was peanuts in comparison.

No idea, but the electric train they are on doesn’t produce steam.

But the high street’s still all cracked and broken.
October 12, 2025 at 7:32 AM
He was a bit overwhelmed by the crappiness of the world.
We’ve all been there (I’m assuming everyone, because I definitely have 😆).

It’s all good now.

Omg they just are!!

I’d be lying if I said they didn’t help me when I want to sit in a corner and cry about the world! If there was a stereotypical crazy Guinea pig lady, I’d be it 😆

Much love xx

The literal definition of employing staff is buying chunks of other people’s hours so you have more.
October 10, 2025 at 9:05 AM
It feels like you are trying to argue with people with similar viewpoints to yours when they are simply trying to hold you back from hasty simplistic conclusions.

It’s ok. You don’t need to rant at me. Take a beat and breathe. The state of the world is awful, but we are not your enemy x

I don’t think it was the “because of Labour” part he was arguing.

It was the “all”.

There is never a single reason in politics/life. It’s simplistic to focus on one factor.

I’d argue that Labour isn’t even close to the largest factor, but that’s a separate point.

There was a local rumour that Haven’s flagship park, full of privately owned caravans, was going to be turned over to asylum seekers.
His response to the headbangers spouting this was that they had “reasonable concerns”.

He’s not fighting the ‘revolution’, he’s stoking it.

Oh and I hope you manage to defeat your distractions and get out for a bit.
This whole summer has been good weather for a turn around and the autumn isn’t stopping the trend so far!

It wasn’t a lecture & I wasn’t offended. I’ve tried very carefully to be kind.

Something I did not feel from you.

I checked your comments to see if anyone else read it the same way as I did before posting and there were a couple that indicate they did. Context has helped.
October 2, 2025 at 6:46 PM
Of course I'd love to know what you actually meant by that line...

Nothing wrong with saying a morning walk is great for body and soul - it's a fab message. But like I said originally, it was a kind reminder to not reinforce the narrative that if you don't do this 'easy' task you are ignorant/lazy.
October 2, 2025 at 3:59 PM
Apologies if I've misunderstood the context of;
"I guess no one knows. It's just impossible. Oh well."

I took it to be a sarcastic comment regarding an overweight person who ignores your 'obvious' & 'easy' solution and stays overweight/underactive.

If I've misread this then I apologise.
October 2, 2025 at 3:52 PM
Apologies if you thought it was about me - I'm not overweight so it isn't. I was using my viewpoint to shine a light to you about how it is for many, many others.
But if you wanna dogwhistle to the 'fat and lazy' shaming community, which by looking at your comments you did, then crack on I guess.

The Israeli government (and you) need to stop conflating their genocide with Jewry as a whole then.

My heart breaks for the dead, the injured, their survivors and the terrorised regardless of their faith and nationality. Genocide denialism means yours doesn’t.
