If you've got large enough cranes (and skilled operators) then all sorts is possible - these boats are partly built upside down, partly the right way up and some are flipped if the fabrication/welding is easier. Idea is to do as much o the floor as possible, rather than traipsing up stairs.

Aluminium's going to aluminium if you don't paint it. Looks good on Arctic sailing yachts where paint gets scraped off, maybe not so good if you want to look smart. Mind you, blends in nicely with the sea so saves money on grey paint!

Walk out the back went a bit further than I planned! A particularly nice part of the world on days like today.

Excellent, inspiration for the Dacia Spring EV? My partner's one is great for bumping around Mid Wales farm tracks costing pennies to run. Just wish you could get M+S tyres for it, having sledged it down a hill in the snow last winter!

A bit of weathering and it'll look just like this shipbuilding drydock I work in :)

You haven't just stepped out of Howls moving castle perchance?

I'd bet Steve would love to meet this Ted, with his own fish supply ;)

Two launches for the price of one, the new NE fisheries protection vessel being craned in today and the Ted of Ladram fishing boat for Brixham on Saturday at Parkol Eng in Whitby.

And a more recent image with the MY Britain (ex Arctic Penguin). Photo from the Daily Post, I think.

There's a reason side launches are a staple of the "oh my god, you won't believe this..." memes - even the well planned ones are exciting. Craning in isn't as exciting, but less sleepless nights for whoever has to manage it!

The shading on the sails looks spot on. Reminds me of the Thames sailing barges. Paul Spooner, the Naval architect that did the revamp of Shamrock V last year was also responsible for this barge, Blue Mermaid.

If you had a Chinook and a large magnet, you'd make a fortune recovering all the fencing wire dotted about Welsh hillsides!

Teams meeting cancelled, so went for a wander round the Banau Brycheiniog. Love the wire fence balls dotted around the place, keep expecting some giant cat paw to appear and push them off the hillside!

Another day in Poole, another passenger boat scan.

I highly recommend an organ recital as accompaniment if you can arrange it as well - made scanning the stones in Armagh Cathedral memorable (the radiator was also appreciated!)

Laser scanning on the Thames. Amazing how these little backwaters have almost their own ecosystem,800 ft below the jets coming in to Heathrow.

I may have taped that off you, definitely had a copy from somewhere! Here’s mine, way too many hours in the car grooving along to this lot:
