but I mean, could they "hard fork" from Firefox and continue development that way, and if not, why? Funding reasons?
December 17, 2025 at 12:51 PM
Do you mean the forks wouldn't continue because of not enough funding etc. to hard fork and stop being downstream of Firefox? Or some other reason?

The podcast is made in the US. Therefore if people outside the US are listening to the podcast then they are "transiting between nations", in the form of sending/receiving information, rather than physically traveling. That would make them international

for a real head scratcher, check out the `permutations` function from Data.List (and the discussion at the URLs linked in the comment in the code) hackage.haskell.org/package/ghc-...

Yep. Haskell is so good it makes me forgive it for having significant whitespace.

it does work, but it doesn't actually have the performance benefits quicksort would normally have, because of how many extra times it has to traverse the lists (ESPECIALLY to concatenate them together)

It's funny because I play fighting games and usually want exactly 60, no more no less

I wouldn't say use LLMs/chatbots but I have heard some cool stuff about algorithms in the broader "AI" umbrella algorithmically finding new theorem proofs

I'm on the second boss of the game. Number of mistakes you can make before you die is single digits. Mistakes include being a little late on a perfect parry during the boss's 3-hit combo, or going for a combo that's just slightly too long when it's my turn.

Do you not also use mutexes to implement CSP?
October 13, 2025 at 12:46 PM
like if an enemy is a real threat to me, make them look like it, I'm not saying don't give me threatening enemies, just make their threateningness match the visual impression. like the hollows in undead settlement (ds3) should either deal basically no damage or else look like they know how to fight.
October 13, 2025 at 12:42 PM
does this count as "ludonarrative dissonance" or am I overapplying that concept?
October 13, 2025 at 12:36 PM
I understand special elite types of enemy who are plot relevant being a threat to me, but if you're going to make an enemy LOOK like they are truly incapable of using their weapon in combat, they should actually be incapable of doing meaningful damage to THE DESTINED LORD OF CINDER, right?
October 13, 2025 at 12:36 PM
4. but those enemies do FULL damage when they hit me. Why??

I am the protagonist of the game, destined to defeat the lords of cinder and link the fire. Why is the hollow thrall that clearly doesn't know how to wield that greatsword a threat to me?

3. the enemies described by (1) have animations that look like (2)
