Yay! 🥳🎉 It has arrived!

@dorkboycomics.com delightfully charming sketch diary is a pillow for the soul. My soul, anyway. Maybe it’s not for you. I don’t know. Make up your own mind, it’s an election year. Okay, that took a dark turn. I need to reread Damian’s book.

One of my all-time favourite Rush songs, Bravado, from Roll the Bones.
An anthem about hitting above your weight class. It is on my mind lately. 🇨🇦

Though everything is lost
We will pay the price,
But we will not count the cost

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world.

Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

The more time I spend working on (and in) comics, the more stunned I am that graphic novels even make it to shelves at all.

The fact that more comic creators don’t just throw their hands up and quit halfway through is honestly incredible.

Comic artists are powerful, and they deserve the world.
If you've ever read a graphic novel give thanks because it is a literal fucking miracle any of them get made at all
The real problem with graphic novels taking like three years to make is I just fully forget how to draw like five times during the process and have to follow a meandering trail of clues to figure out how the hell I drew the last 30 pages and how to replicate it

So if comics are so fucking hard and no one gets paid what they deserve, why do people do it? Because it's fucking tantalizing. You are making a MOVIE. You are the director, you are the actors, you are the cinematographer. If you're an individual creator you have complete control over every aspect.
