To Merry Widow at Festival Theatre Edinburgh by Scottish Opera. Hopefully loved by many. Not by me. Hated the bawdy new libretto. Very shouty. Touring.

Just for fun Spurs fans. Accepting we prioritised the Europa, we earned 33 points from 15 games with an GD of +15. Run those averages against a 38 game PL and Spurs would have ended up on 83.6 points; GD of +38. Liverpool got 84 points and a GD of 45. We come second but well ahead of you know who.

To Alison Moyet at @UsherHall,Edinburgh. I think the audiences expected bangers but got new arrangements. Sound mix was off. But good to see her in decent form with voice still interesting. Touring.

If you were kicked in the jaw by a horse you might say it’s your fault for getting too near to the horse. But if it’s a dentist, you just hand over £300. Just saying.

Reasons to see the Dylan Film “ A Complete Unknown”. Timothee Chalamet is excellent; 1960s New York is beautifully created; smoking addicts will be excited.

The Merchant of Venice at Edinburgh Lyceum is very good. It places the text in a modern setting in a thoughtful way and has good performances throughout. Recommended

We Brits love a weather crisis but it didn’t deter my grandson from his sleety, windy, frankly rather chilly football over the weekend.Nice to think his generation will just get on with it

Three of the UK PM’s “milestones “ apply exclusively to England; one extends to Wales. Two, the vaguest, are perhaps UK wide. Shows why such targets are largely performative.

Haddington FC beat Dundonald Bluebell ( crazy name!) 5-2 today. The away team shirt sponsor is the cafe at Kirkcaldy Station. That’s proper grass roots football without Wealth Funds; Private Equity or any other dodgy money.
