I think statements like this are politically stupid. You shouldn’t speak for the party, you should lead the party and let it speak for itself. All this did for me is reminded myself that Democrats as an institution don’t hold the same values I do.

I assume they mean the banks would get paid to hold debt? We don’t pay key interest rates, so the customer wouldn’t get a negative rate. On the flip side, the banks get charged for excess reserves aka cash, which would almost certainly get passed to their customers. (Making an educated guess here).

Could you imagine how much good could be done if you take that huge budget to kick people and spent it on infrastructure needed to accommodate them? More processing centers, courts, build extra housing, and so much more that would enrich us all. We could be better, but we choose to cause suffering.

I don’t understand why it’s such a leap that we shouldn’t be arming an agency that is tasked with enforcing misdemeanors.
In a sane world, if ICE were to exist, it would only be to track down undocumented immigrants to help them fill out the required paperwork and help them schedule court dates.

It’s an absurdly ineffective way to convey existential threats to humanity. Its equivalent to when someone give you until the count of three with no intention of making it to three. Stopping after two and saying things like “you don’t want me to get to three…”

Well, yeah… but a felon is someone who has been convicted of a felony… and therefore either already served their time or are serving time. So what in the case where the “worse of the worse” are not arrested by police? I mean, aside from the Border Patrol/ICE… apparently they get a pass.

I’ve never understood the whole “worse of the worse” thing… Why would you need immigration agents to raid someone who is the “worse”. Wouldn’t that mean they broke or are breaking the law and would be arrested by police? Maybe I am missing something.

Wait until they see what year this happened in… The DHS has been monsters for quite some time, regardless of the administration.

The USA military just nabbed a leader of another country not more than a month ago… We’ve been threatening to invade Greenland for months… and they are a NATO country. The only thing shocking here is the ICE agent didn’t call in the backup.

All I can hope for is these people are desperately trying to delude themselves as to not be guilty of supporting atrocities. The alternative is they are just plain evil, which fills me with on odd feeling of dread.

Thank you!!! That clears it up for me! USA House is a literal church. For some reason I read that as the US House, meaning our congress. The statement makes more sense to me now.
