The old books are the best books. It's like slipping back into a pair of your favourite socks that have lain for only a week or so in a damp but warm corner of your kitchen. 50 years old but full of ironic humour and observation that is fresh as hell. Unlike the socks.

Great to be invited to missing lynx dinner last night. At the top of society people want change that helps nature. Ordinary folk and kids are also enthusiastic. The systems we have in place in Britain just don't deliver. All to often their only function is to say no.

Puppy being taught to sit on back of quad bike. Loves it as it hates walking. Only snag is that it has not mastered emergency stops. Its flying is superb. It's landings not so good.

If anyone is interested we will be running another beaver trip to Bavaria in October. Beer, beavers and lots of cakes. You will meet a fascinating array of individuals who have been involved with their competent management for many decades.

And today was spent finding missing buffalo in a swamp. She looks fine. In good order and moving well. No idea why she is there on her own. Perhaps just sick of being bullied by the boys.

Hi Everyone. Nearly 2025 and looking forward to staring an amazing project which will transform nearly 50 acres of hard farmed land in Devon into a species rich wetland with beavers, water voles, great white herons and many other species. Works begin soon !
