"Analogue mastering". Run the recording through a combo exciter & stereo widener (Minsk to Stereo Dipole acting as saturated bandpass, adding some additional, moving mid-high harmonics, mixed with the dry signal), through an FNR RNC1773, recorded with a digital limiter shaving that last peak dB.

Now there's a sight I haven't seen in far too long - everything's unpatched! Yes, this means I finally recorded the piece.

Yes, my rack layout sucks.

Yes, having it all on such a low table with two of the synths underneath is really bad for my back.

OK, so imagine this, but like... better mixed and without so many timing errors. Not what I was intending to record but I think I'm on to something worth revisiting later

A talkbox, for those not in the know, is a magical guitar pedal that consists of an amplified speaker in a box, and hole in the top for a rubber tube, out of which the sound comes. You put that tube in your mouth, form vowel & constant shapes (only the shapes), sibilants, and plosives whilst playing

OK FINE I'M CHEATING

Recording the two layers of talkbox vocal loop onto my SP404 ahead of the rest of the jam, because juggling a microphone, rubber tubing around my neck, and a "keyboard" made of microswitch buttons is just too much at the same time as everything else.

That moment when you're mid jam and come up with something better than what you were planning and you're like DAMNIT BRAIN STOP SABOTAGING ME

Just buying some nice unsold original arts

Letting the gear (and room) warm up while I go for lunch. I think the Boog might actually be more drifty than my Erica Synths DIY VCO - don't know whether that's a testament to Behringer's cheapness, mki's design skills, or if real Minimoogs were that bad

Without downloading any new pics, where are you mentally

So, uh, yeah... Over a month later and I still haven't recorded the piece I had patched up here. It's somehow grown even more complex since then. I still want to do it, but time continues to be against me...
Am I even a musician any more? Was I ever?

Some days you're Mickey, some days you're the crab

Well sadly my three baby free days ended up more like one, in two halves. So you won't get to hear any of this quite yet. But I've used all bar three of my patch cables and almost every module in the rack to get this next live track going.

Age yourself with your first computer.

Acorn were ahead of their time, and it's great to see ARM ascendant. Didn't have a Windows PC at home until 98, IIRC.

Post a picture of yourself to show the newbies what they're dealing with.

PSA: for anyone wondering whether the Voltage Block in CV clock mode (i.e. "scanning" through the sequence by sending varying voltage to the clock input) interpolates between steps with smoothing on, yes, yes it does.

Not a new module, I know, but new to me.

Finally got my K340s usable again! A few weeks ago I cut the connector off to try and solder on a balanced jack, failing miserably because the chonky cable wouldn't play ball with such a fiddly thing (and would never have fit through the strain relief). Ended up going pentaconn to 4-pin XLR.

Empty house today, finished soldering this beauty. Just a filter, but what a filter it is. Overdrives on the gain (i.e. it is actually gain, not just an attenuator), self oscillates & tracks v/oct, pings well, and has a lovely round, bubbly character to the resonance. The analogue-est of filters.

Playing at being a photographer for some Memento Potato track art. Since Bandcamp supports a cover per track on albums, and any track released as a single needs its own art anyway, decided every track will get one.
