denpa , as in radio wave , and no - mikoto as both a reference to his earthly name and the honorific traditionally attached to the names of japanese deities .

his mother took her own life in an act of ritualistic suicide .
mikoto would not mourn . after all , in his warped worldview , she was not truly dead , but rather ascended to the next realm . besides , it was his turn to take over and fulfill his duty as the new god .
