I wonder the same.
In my opinion, RSS is an outstanding example of the open web. Podcasts scale pretty well and are easy to access because of it.
Things like pagination, and additional metadata would be nice. But the issue here is that all client vendors need to agree on a spec.

I had some issues here in the Berlin suburbs as well. The feed and user profiles couldn’t be loaded.
