the problem with allowing college players to bet on pro sports in light of the NBA scandal. dennisdodd2019.substack.com/p/the-ncaas-...
The NCAA's pro/college divergent sports betting stances make my brain hurt, especially in light of the burgeoning NBA scandal
It's literally OK for college players under investigation for fixing games to legally bet on pro sports. At least that's the way it looks.

It's time to consider a three-loss team(s) for the College Football Playoff. Here's why ...

This crazy season has taught us a three-loss team in the College Football Playoff is inevitable. Will it be this season?
There are only a handful of really elite teams (Ohio State, Indiana) and then a whole lot of OK-to-good teams.

Curt Cignetti isn't bragging anymore. It might be fact. Indiana is good enough to be No. 1.

open.substack.com/pub/dennisdo...
It's not bragging if you can back it up at Indiana after double-digit win at Oregon
Curt Cignetti is an amazing 17-2 since arriving in Bloomington and can stake a claim to the No. 1 ranking this week after beating Oregon. Plus, Manning up at Texas; Alabama takes over the SEC?

John Mateer may have been the No. 1 transfer available but, for the record, Jamelle Holieway would have stayed -- at Oklahoma. dennisdodd2019.substack.com/p/john-matee...
John Mateer may be saving Oklahoma but try topping what Jamelle Holieway did 40 years ago
As an 18-year-old, Holieway became the first freshman starting quarterback to win a national championship

Coming off a school-record 13 wins and a national semifinal appearance, Penn State was loaded. Then UCLA happened.

It's Vandy week at Bama and there's a larger narrative in college football: There are few great teams but a lot of pretty good teams. The "P" -- parity -- is making the game fun as hell this season.

Stat o’ the day: The top five teams in the SEC (top five in the standings, all undefeated) have gone a combined 252 years without winning a conference championship. Ole Miss (62 years), Vandy (103), Missouri (56), Oklahoma (5), Texas A&M (27). All but Ole Miss have NEVER won an SEC title.
