I agree. But should that continue to set the direction or should we actively seek to reduce reliance on the US corporate infrastructure. Generally and not just in super secure environments. And is that reliance both an increasingly economic and strategic risk. That's the question being posed.

PS I spent over 30 years of my working life in IT almost all for large US corporations.

Actually if we have a secure architecture it should be conceptually neutral as regards the technologies used to implement it. So evisaging future evolutions based less on US software and cloud servces and more of local European alternatives should not be an issue. It should be a feature.

Nice try but even super secure environments can be breached and that's anyway not the point here. The point is "over dependence on an increasing unreliable source" Not just in special cases but generally. Every essential sevice relies on IT. The worry about #China equally applies to #Trumpist #USA

You can easily see how US based IT can and will use #AI to build ever more dominance. Its not necessarily dangerous but it is with an #America focused on transactional political bullying as its geopolitical strategy. Replacing all the hardware is relatively easy software and cloud based services not

Investing in a declining, if a still far too large, market is a race to the lowest price in an energy segment that is being replaced by even lower priced renewables. So is Canada the lowest cost producer? Otherwise invest in the future.

This is the long winded answer to leave the tar in the ground
