I was lucky enough to see the Beatles in concert at Wembley. When I say see that is what I mean as I didn't hear a single note because the girls screamed non stop for the entire concert!
This day December 9th (1963)
The BEATLES (remember them)
performed at the Odeon in
Southend-on-Sea.
The cost of the police overtime to manage
the event was put at £1,200.

Some sad news this morning with the passing of BBC Radio Essex presenter - Dave Monk who truly was the voice of Essex. I met him a few times and even booked a young Dave 'Mad' Monk to run a charity disco for me many years ago. Dave connected with so many people and his death is a great loss to Essex

Members of the National Education Union (NEU) at Ormiston Rivers Academy, Burnham on Crouch have voted to strike on December 4, 10 and 11. I don't know enough to support or oppose this action but I feel sorry for Children whose learning will suffer.

I am considering changing cars next year. I was contemplating a hybrid but the budget has killed their value for money stone dead & made using all electric very expensive unless you do huge mileage so I think it will stay with petrol. How will garages be able to sell their quota of electric cars now?

In our small town Barclays & Nat West both closed their branches leaving us with no bank & a round trip of 30 miles to closest Bank. Its nice to see that Nationwide have promised to keep their Branches open until, at least 2030. No surprise that many people are moving current accounts to Nationwide.

It's only November with at least 3 & a half months of winter to go, I am fed up already with having to turn on the house lights before 4pm. On balance I think I would prefer darker mornings and lighter evenings so I would vote for British Summer Time all year round. (Apologies to Scottish Crofters)

Not totally Dengie 100 but I know quite a few locals have visited the Essex Regiment display at Chelmsford
Big news today - the Essex Regiment Wing & huge archives at Chelmsford Museum closes on 1 Jan and moves to the Royal Anglian Museum at Duxford. Not enough info yet to know whether to be happy or not but there is bound to be disruption to access over the next year www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

The news that all Essex waste is dealt with at the incinerator at Rivenhall gives me mixed feelings.Pleased that landfill is no more but concern about burning all waste as I thought that was bad for planet.Glad I don't live & breathe near Rivenhall. www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2557171...
All of Essex's general waste now being taken to Rivenhall incinerator plant
Instead of being taken to landfill, all of Essex’s general waste is taken to the Energy from Waste facility in Rivenhall.

Not in the Dengie but a strange story from nearby Colchester. Who abandoned an urn in Lidl and why? Several puns spring to mind but are probably best unposted! www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2549865...

Really scary news from East of England Ambulance Service that they are under extreme pressure amid high demand. It is only September with the busy season for falls & covid/flu etc still to come. If they are stretched now what will they be in January? www.maldonandburnhamstandard.co.uk/news/2548785...

Agree entirely with the Grumbler on Christmas goods this early but mince pies may be a special case. We get plenty of seasonal items esp fruit & Veg available all year round so why not make mince pies an normal bakery item rather than a Christmas item. To quote "A mince pie isn't just for Christmas"
There are Mince Pies in my local supermarket. Before the cricket season is over

Although Govt league tables can mislead it is still sad to see that the Essex NHS trusts are all nationally well under average and my local trust -Mid and South Essex NHS Foundation Trust is 123rd out of 134 nationally. That certainly reflects local perception. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
