Right, patch minutes between rotations. Like a third/fourth string option. They’re on their 4th string PG (5th if you count Dame). That’s not bad planning or bad roster building. That’s just insane luck. Any team that loses their top 4 PGs or C’s are going to struggle hard.

I don’t think it’s a tank season. But it was never a contender season. It was a growth season.

They did add a backup plan. It was Blake Wesley. And Love.

That said, I’d love if they called up Dillon Jones. He’s been awesome for the Remix.

Yeah, he’s a secondary ball handler/weak side playmaker. Not a primary ball handler. But who is taking the ball if Dame/Jrue/Scoot are all out? No one else is any better. That’s the point and problem.

I fully agree “gather” should be the instant the ball touches you. I’d love to see that rule change. Or be a little tighter.

I see one hand on the top half of the ball and the other hand not on the ball? Am I seeing something you’re not? Feels like he could easily be mid cross over (if the defender wasn’t right there).

If you said he continued to dribble from here I’d believe it.
December 9, 2025 at 6:19 PM
I guess. That’s really close. If that’s what this is, then this is an insane overreaction (Not by you specifically).
December 9, 2025 at 6:14 PM
Where is the third step? I feel like this was a good breakdown. Are you counting that first step in #1? I guess that’s close, but it feels like that foot is on the ground by the time he controls the ball.

1. Not yet gathered the ball. No counting.

He lifted his pivot, standing on his non pivot, then lifted and shot before placing his pivot. That’s just a step through. Go watch Hakeem. He does the exact same type of steps constantly. It’s literally what made him great. Kareem did this with his hook a ton too.
December 9, 2025 at 5:17 PM
I’m looking the exact opposite. The first part is borderline. The second is incredibly clean. It’s textbook. If you think the second half is bad, then every big in the history of the league traveled to very time they scored in the paint.
December 9, 2025 at 5:12 PM
How many steps does he take? He slides his pivot, which would be a travel. He doesn’t take too many steps. It’s very borderline that has the optics of being egregious.
December 9, 2025 at 5:09 PM
If you think the step through is a travel, I don’t know what to say.
December 9, 2025 at 5:08 PM
I was the exact opposite. I thought this has to be egregious. And it just wasn’t.
December 9, 2025 at 5:01 PM
I think you’re wrong. The amount of people that I’ve seen say the second half of the move is the problem is wild. That step through is not a travel at all.

I also don’t see a travel in the first half (outside of a slide of the pivot). This move doesn’t seem egregious.

Grant, Scoot, maybe Yang and/or Orlando’s first for Sabonis and Keon?

I have no idea what Sacramento will want back. I don’t love the fit of Sabonis in Portland. He’d have to play the 4 and Clingan would have to stretch the floor a bit better than he does right now.

I get people are mad, but I don’t hate it. At the end of the day, if sharpe is going to be that guy, he has to be that guy. If he takes a leap, he takes a starting job. Playing 30 minutes a game off the bench instead of 30 minutes a game starting isn’t going to change his development arc.

In short: BPA. You take the best player and deal with the roster building later. Also, what are the odds that both are superstars, no matter how much you believe in both? And if both are all NBA caliber centers, is that a bad thing? You just get a ridiculous haul to trade one?

10-15 heaves a year could drop your 3 point percent by 3-5%. The difference between a guy shooting 40% vs 35% is probably 5+ million a year in salary.

23m dead cap for half a decade is crazy.

I think Jrue is a wildly different situation. Ayton and Simons want a full time starting role and to be a focus of the offense. Jrue has taken lesser roles in the offense the last few years. He’s great because it gives the young guys more offensive workload while having a competent vet around them.
June 30, 2025 at 4:00 PM
Seems like they wanted to offload the two vets that wanted full time starting positions and some focus in the offense. I get it from both sides. Ayton (and Simons) didn’t wanna give up their roles, the team didn’t want those roles to continue. So a move was inevitable.
