One of my friends is hosting a painting class so she designed a painting and practiced by instructing me on it. Mine is the bright green one on the right - the first time I've ever done a waterfall I'm proud of!

Old lady dog was distressed in the night. Not sick, but it woke me and neither of us slept for a while. Now we're both here contemplating the day with reluctance.
Old lady dog curled up against the pillows far, far away from me. (It's three inches. For a GSP, that's miles. She's making a statement.)

Wanna see a cross stitch of thousands of stitches that just looks like a block of green yet has taken many confusing hours to make it look this unimpressive? Well, you're in luck!

My (oversized) gsp curled up into the tightest possible little ball. He's curled up on two poorly stacked dog beds (I piled them up when I swept and they both seem to enjoy the excessive quantity of padding.)

Himself has taken boy dog to his flyball class while I'm at home caring for the injured lady and drinking wine. It's very nice.
Gsp curled up between my leg (which is swathed in a brown fluffy blanket) and the back of the sofa. She has tucked her nose right into the nook of my knee.

I was getting super cross at how blotchy the background was, so I'm going over it. I'm not doing a second coat all over. That would drive me nuts.

Do you have any idea how small 800 stitches can be? The green bar is the top ten rows of the pattern (which is printed on A4 paper). Believe it or not there's six shades of green in that block.
I don't know how to describe this effectively. It's my large rectangular cross stitch frame with a linen canvas stretched on it. In the top left corner is a small "test" strip of 3*10 stitches, and then a larger block of 80*10 stitches with a few stragglers and a few empty spaces. The A4 paper with the pattern on is to give scale, and that's both the point of the picture and my greatest difficulty.

While yes, this is the 95millionth picture of Monty in this position, I really wanted to take it because she's lost a lot of weight in the last month and I'm worried I won't get another million chances. She's 15 1/2 years old, so things like sudden weight loss can be alarming.

I'm feeling a bajillion times better today. Not running a marathon any time soon, but I'm definitely more fun to be around.

And I'm enjoying having old lady dog snoring on my knee.
No audio, but GSP is snoring. She has snuggled between me and the back of the sofa, taking advantage of the blanket I'm lying under and is resting her chin on my knee. She's wearing a suitical because she's been worrying at the surgical site on her chest.

The skull in a library paint by numbers I've shared a few progress pics of. The nose, some teeth and cheekbones are all coming together and honestly it's starting to look a little creepy!

We're watching QI on Britbox again.
Two sleeping GSPs on my bed, neither of them looking to the left (which is where the TV is), but I'm also featured in this picture and thanks to the rumpling of the fabric in my trousers I look quite misshapen. Anyway, long story short, I'm watching TV and they're definitely uninterested.

Electrical inspection window opens in half an hour. Monty is on day two of "physical contact means everything to me" and I can't help feeling guilty that I'll probably distress her when the electrician arrives.

She is so extra cuddly after being alone for a couple of days. Normally I get half an hour, but today not only was she with me most of last night, she's kept her butt to mine for 3 episodes of Murder She Wrote.

Posted my chapter, drank a beer, painted a bit and feel like it's actually made the picture worse(?!), and now I'm trying to read a weaving book.
Same paint by numbers as before. More of the background is filled in, bottle looks less realistic, candle looks all kinds of weird. The shelf beneath the bottle looks pretty good though.

Painting progress! Yes, I stopped work to paint, but please don't judge me I'll be doing extra this evening. I moved down to a thinner brush today, pretty confident that was a good call.
The same paint by numbers that's featured in my last few media posts, still only colored in the background but the candle on the right hand side is noticeably popping. The other significant change is detail in the bottle on the left and the beginnings of a shelf the bottle is standing on.

Progress! While not commuting for an hour a day I get to do extra painting.
A paint by numbers picture in which a substantial part of the upper background has been revealed. It's dark, and hard to make out details, although there's clearly a glass bottle on the left.

My crafting today was making a start on this paint by numbers and I'm instructing myself not to feel bad about not doing "real" art. This is brush skills, fine detail, and I'm sure some other beneficial exercise. Also it should look cool when it's done.

Ok, so IKEA is being very confusing. The delivery window was changed from 8-12 to 8-8. Not a problem, I'm home all day. But it's been saying "we're nearly done preparing your order!" since 10am, and there's a reschedule button.

Are they lying? Do I have to reschedule?

You know how everyone's face is kind of wonky? I figured out a way to see how wonky mine was. It's not a perfect technique, but it was quick, and look! Look at the different jawlines!
A screenshot of my photos on my phone. Oldest image is a very basic selfie that I've cut in half and used the mirror function to flip each half and then saved them in order so you see "full" face twice. There's a black bar separating the two halves of each face, but you get the general idea. The face made of two rights is much droopier - that's the side I get migraines on, so I'm not entirely surprised - but the jar being noticeably narrower was a shock. The face made of two lefts is much narrower at the bridge of the nose, and the Cupid's bow is much wider.
