Example 1/1000: The aggressive homophobia and transphobia that was just a casual part of our media but also conversations with strangers!

Your not wrong that there are plenty of men like that.

But I just think it's obvious Joel's an academic nerd, and anyone using the methodology incorrectly towards a topic that is already full of misinformation, would make an academic nerd annoyed.

Duh, its cowardice!!!

Your gonna drop that BnB and you need to be okay with an online stranger thinking you're a idiot stinky goober, if you want to be free

You know what? It is weird to be mad about it, lol.

But people with niche interests and passions... get weirdly emotional about them. It's part of having interests.

Sure but I'm engaging with the text, not the headline.

I agree with the authors views on relationship red flags. But I do not think the way they wrote the text is compelling or true to the data provided.

Like there's not much else to say.

Cause A: nothing on a social level is ever that simple.

And B: that complexity is also on display in the same research the author linked, lol.

If you actually look through it, it's not just a study about men and women. It also includes race, sexuality, income, politics.

I mean, that's a fine hypothesis. "I think-" is not disqualification for value. Opinion can be valuable.

The issue is the author is not presenting an opinion. They assert a hyptotheis has been solved, with data to prove it... and the data does not.

I dont think theres any debate that the emotional labour sucks for women. That was never in question.

The entire point of the critique up top was the authors method of reaching a conclusion and how they sourced thr information to justify it.

After looking at the research closer, I'm more convinced the article author is being a little dishonest.

Men and women ages 18-39 have almost identical evals in that section.

That 30/60 split between men and women is specifically coming from people 40+. It's skewing the averages quite a bit.

It also mentions structure is part of patriarchal societies in general. So this is an old problem, obviously.

Even if we were using vibes as a source, I don't see why "mankeeping" would ever be a sole variable in this shift.

Well one is just the arts in a different flavor, and requires a lot more investment(in the characters and storylines) to really get those emotional highs.

I don't think fighting is inherently valid or anything. But the venue and thr culture around UFC leans that way at times.

Putting the industry professionals on the same list with the internet goofballs is really funny
