Did you not?” “We didn’t fuck, if that’s what you’re getting at.” “Certainly not!” Lorenz blanched, though he would have been lying if the affirmation - vulgar as it was - didn’t send a curl of relief through his belly. “I just… I am merely suggesting… well, that perhaps your vehemence may have come from a place of… amorous intent. Which would be no less admirable than compassion of any other source,” he added hastily. “That is all I am trying to say. You needn’t feel ashamed, if that is indeed your motivation. I fully intend to take your opinions with the utmost seriousness no matter their emotional root.” Dorothea hummed as she studied his face. “Well. Thank you for that,” she said. She did not elaborate any further in the silent seconds that followed. Lorenz fidgeted against his better judgement. It was never the most polite decision to press a lady on her private affairs, and yet… “Are… your concerns toward him of an amorous nature?”
