Ben Stein. Yeah, the importer pays the tariff, not the exporter. They’ll hit consumers in two ways: 1) directly as the tariff is added to the sale price; and 2) indirectly, because the tariff will like cause a reduction in imports, which reduces supply and causes prices to further increase.

This is the Republicans. It’s not just Trump. This is going to continue until the Republicans are forced to stop him. If it’s not the Republicans, they need to prove it and stop him. Until then, they put him there, he’s the leader they chose, so this is clearly their policy he’s carrying out.

In politics, we often say “if you’re explaining, you’re losing.” So at the risk of losing, Carville was talking to the Democratic Party about the image academia has with most blue-collar workers and the need to separate from it. I wouldn’t take it personally.
