Media had been touting Zelenskyy's mtg at WH as a win for #ukraine at Putin's expense. This mtg was blown up because Putin didn't want it to happen but Trump couldn't just cancel. What an embarrassment.

Yesterday I didn't get a job I wanted very badly. It hurt a lot.

Today my nephew is being airlifted for a liver injury and his life is at risk.

I suppose I needed perspective. But not like this.

Yeah. I said Biden should do this on about Nov 6. This will be a big list unfortunately.
Good. Should we make him a starter pack?

The “establishment” is twisting itself into contortions to find a way to BE the solution. I think Americans just want more choices. 🇺🇸 is too ideologically diverse for a duopoly. Systemic reform is critical.

I’m all for moral high ground but given the sharp moral decline in 🇺🇸 I think Hunters pardon is a good deed is an example of where we are. Protect the ones you love. It’s the only moral imperative that exists now. We will come back.
Joe Biden said he wouldn't pardon his son. He went back on his word.
Both parties are corrupt. 😞
End the Duopoly.
Run for something.

We fiercely unaffiliated voters face a lot of questions about why we don't simply buy into one political identity or another. This speaker training with Jackie Salit is a great opportunity! She's very inspiring.

What does it look like when #voters to win #elections? Not parties, not candidates, but voters??

💡 Political giving

Instead of focusing on cramped & polarized confines of election cycle, think bigger.

Major gifts would be better directed to funding efforts centered on democracy & pluralism like electoral reforms, bridge-building, depolarization, & civic infrastructure.

Funding the Resistance Is Not a Winning Strategy. Here’s What Is.
Billions spent fighting Trumpian populism hasn’t worked. Practicing a pluralistic approach to grant making will.

Ready for another way
The Democratic Party has been in the wilderness for a long time now. Perhaps the consequences are stark enough, the excuses flimsy enough that we can finally embrace real transformation.

Anyone ever get 200 pages into a writing a novel and suddenly feel like your central plot doesn’t feel compelling enough but you love your characters and the concept? Suggestions please? PS it’s my first attempt at novel writing

I'm not hopeless: there is a way up and out. But finding it requires expanding our perspective beyond just one election, or even one era. We need to think bigger, more systematically, and more multidimensionally about both the problem and potential solutions.

This is a moment in which Americans are fed up and want something different.

Normally one might argue that stuff like “shift America to a multiparty proportional-representation system” is far-out Utopianism.

Right now we’re in the sort of moment when far-out utopian ideas can launch.
Delighted to join @wbur.org's On Point for a great conversation what to do re: mounting voter frustration.
Of course, I argue for more parties, and more competition. Better choices, better parties.
Break this goddam Two-Party Doom Loop, already.

How to get Americans excited about voting again
Millions of voters who turned out in 2020 didn't show up this year. Why they stayed home or left the top of the ticket blank -- and how we might reinvigorate Americans' belief in voting.

"Political parties & interest groups strive to make their concerns become current triggers of your moral modules. to get your vote, your money, or your time, they must activate at least one of your moral foundations." Haidt suggests right-wing morality activates a broader range of moral foundations.
If you want to understand what really explains right-wing voters--globally-- and why the education divide matters politically, please read this post and the Jonathan Haidt book it's based on.

Stop depending on failed institutions to solve problems. Build something new. The history of everything includes scrapping bad ideas and starting fresh. #ThirdParties ARE the answer. #ElectoralReform IS the answer. No more complaining. Stop poo-poo ing reforms or efforts to build options.

Soooo many posts about reforming the #Democrats or #GOP. Both are lost. Minor parties were never better positioned to take the reins. There are countless parties all across the #USA. Pick one. Register with one. Send a message that you want better options. Help them build up.
