That was some good hockey. Also some lousy mixed in, but at least the good well outweighed the bad.

Oh, very interesting soup!

Will the extra musicians on stage overly thicken their sound? Or is that just a recognition that they're not getting any younger and can't quite handle the complexity? #rush #rush50something

Heh, maybe it's in the driver's seat now.

Because that went so well last year.

The not-so-little joys of running one's own small mail server instead of Google, AOL, or Microsoft...

[1] I feel OK doing this because I subscribe to a newspaper that carries many of the strips I scrape. 4/4

So all one needs to do is look for <head><meta property="og:image" content="{url string}"> and use that.

Gotta love it when they do substantial obfuscation work and then just ... go around it themselves. 3/

However... they also have these simple tags in the HTML header so that the comic is correctly displayed on FB and/or Twitter when the link is embedded. So the scraper just needs to look at the simple header tags instead of trying to parse the rather obfuscated scriptery. 2/

Hah! I'll bet that's why I'm having trouble with my car remote. I replaced the battery a few months ago and it's been inconsistent, often reporting low battery, ever since.

And it's kinda fun to run your own ADS-B receiver, see also Stratux. :)

They may well have had the ADS-B out transmitter working. FR24 and the various other services like them have a way to submit their ADS-B address so it's not reported to users online. Still visible to those with ADS-B in receivers.
April 11, 2025 at 7:08 AM
Just because they're not on FR24 doesn't mean they're not doing ADS-B. There's a system in place now to remove birds from the public online feed, but they could well still be broadcasting.

I'm not aware of any planet where a software engineer could earn "millions" per year. They have H1Bs to keep salaries in check there.
