Have you seen Villain? I just watched it for the first time on demand. Burton pulls off the lead role as a sadistic gang boss except for a stupid decision that drives the plot. The movie pushes the envelope for 1971 with a focus on seamy sex orgies/trysts - though nothing explicit is shown.

Perfect casting because he was a rebel in real life. No respect for authority. I think a lot of the other actors were probably like-minded. Whoever cast this movie knew what they were doing.
