A pain in my chest comes at the mere thought of Noname. But now that pain travels down to my stomach and at the pit of it my hunger rears it's ugly head. I'm doing good to survive off rations, and whatever we hunt, but I want....I need blood. Feeding off the deer we come across barely does the trick, I need something more hearty more human. For now I concede until I can find a more suitable stock away from the others. "That one. Noname I called them. All I can remember is when everything started coming down they did their best to help me out even at the cost of their own well-being," a dryness in my throat but not at the hunger but of the guilt and shame. "And for that I can only be so grateful." She takes one of her gunked up arrows out of her quiver and starts inscribing something in one of the tiles. She takes her time making sure not to make a mess of whatever she's writing. Once she finishes up she blows the excess dust away and shows me her work. With my senses attuned as they are, her pulse is steady as is her breathing, such is the nature of a master marksman. Despite the conditions we've lived in these past few months, her skin remains as soft as silk; even the calluses her bow has given her aren't as rough as my touch. In my observations of her I'm finding myself flush as she rests her head on my shoulder. Her heart rate slightly elevated at this point, mine climbing mountains by the second. This feels wrong. My impulses tell me to lean into it, but I just... can't. This desire I'm feeling is just fleeting. It's the hunger I have to tell myself that. I have nearly all of Ursillé's memories at my disposal, but her wants and feelings were not so easy to recover. Did she want….. this? I try to pull away but now she's got me locked in her arms. They all exchanged glances at one another before signaling me to follow them. Wren grabbed my hand beckoning me to come with her, her full hand barely wrapping around my index finger. Trailing behind them the cold dissapated and the snow and ice replaced by ash and soot. Before we even turned the corner to where they were taking me I was able to sniff it out immediately. It was acrid, foul, and vile yet all too familiar even amidst my lapse in memory. The smell was nothing compared to the sight before me. Bodies piled on top of each other some intertwined by the legs or the arms, their limbs binding them together in some manner forming a spiral of corpses. This interlocking of flesh and bone could not have been purposeful, could it? The smell only gets stronger the more I approach it and the ground softer, damper even. Their viscera between my toes sends a new tingling sensation down my back. My throat is dry, I'm parched and filled with a new sanguine hunger just looking at them. That can't be right. Yara mentions, "Not long after you went in with the big one, the other Nwasang descended into a state of madness. They started humming the same tune before spewing a blood mist out of their mouths. It escalated to the point to where we couldn't see what was going on. I opted that we retreat for the time being." "Then what happened next?" At this point I face to face with the structure, this effigy of corpses. I know what this is. This is a gift to... to me. The scratch at my throat starts irritate even further, my back is hot and searing. Feels like someone stuck a hot iron on me. I try to fight it but I'm about to wretch, the others come to my aid as I plummet into a puddle of blood. The nausea wanes, I think I'm good, I give Wren a smile before emptying my stomach contents. Nothing comes out but blood, feels like I've poured a gallon out at this point. Finally I stop but now another problem arises. Something is blocking my airway whatever it is I'm choking on it. Whatever it is, it's alive and crawling around in there. I try to push it down but I don't think I want it coming out the other end. Damn this sucks. I muster up whatever strength I have and without a second thought I pierce my throat with my own nails. The pain is excruciating but I can bear through it. It's trying to retreat but I won't let it. I reach for what I think is it, the others back away from me in shock and horror. Finally I have it, I pull the creature from the gaping hole of my neck and watch it coil around my forearm. I should be dead right now but instinctively the wound I inflicted on myself heals, within seconds you wouldn't even know I did it. "M-Maman, what happened to you? What is that?" Wren asks me. At first glance it looks like a centipede but it is so much more. It uses it's mandibles to play with the divits of my fingers but if it were anyone else it could tear their arm clean off. This is no normal creature. My memories, no, Ursillé's memories come back or rather yet her final moments find me. This was her parasite but it's stronger somehow. The being that inhabited the vat did something to it although I can not parse it. It looks at me fondly, this is mine. This is my hemophageon.
