Like I genuinely find it hard to see the first season and the later ones as a part of the same show. They are so different and it's so jarring.

Like holy shit they literally do the whole. ✨wow trip to the mall ✨ Scene and then NEVER ACTUALLY MAKE A COMMENTARY ON THE RUNAWAY CONSUMERISM OF THE PERIOD. Outside of like one scene where some protesters are vaguely grrrr angry about it but that's never brought up again.

Kinda thing that if the show ended there everyone would still be talking about it in a positive light I'm sure. To me it felt like a pretty honest portrayal of the 80s. But instead we get whatever the hell this show is now. Been nothing but a boring fetishized 80s wonder land since season 3.
