Old man. Music enjoyer. Avid gamer. Anime enthusiast. Wannabe-Streamer. Wannabe Writer. Open minded. Ally. Introvert. Runner-up for most interesting boring guy you've never met. Not one to start convos, good at carrying them. DMs open, AMA.
Incidentally, I only remembered I owned this game because someone here posted "Remember Wolfenstein?"

Thank you kind stranger. This is oddly cathartic.

That being said, when I'm employed again and can afford to, I'm prolly gonna pick one of those bad boys up if they're still in stock. <3

You know you've truly made it when a ridiculous 'inside' joke you make immediately starts getting ripped off.

Kinda reminds me of those crazy tees they sell in Japan. Top notch jokes for sure, but sold to a crowd who doesn't get it. Still hella funny tho.

I swear FFXV did this as part of its 'character charm'. Wandering a dungeon for loot, 'Uhh, Noctis, do you know where we're going? It feels like you're lost.'

Stfu Prompto, the treasure hunter is working.

To all the major publishers out there; let your devs cook. Deadlines are less important than quality. Most of us are willing to wait for the polished product. Your devs have a vision. Let them see it through. Don't rush the art. Do what you're supposed to, and support their growth and development.

Another of my favorite examples is 7 Days to Die. I knew a lot of people who'd dunk on it for being in early access for over a decade, but the end result made it one of the best coop zombie survival games I've ever played. They took their time, they did it right. In return, we got an amazing game.

Larian's approach to BG3 was as close to perfect as you can get. Smaller scale than a procedural generated universe, but it started as a complete game, and expanded from there, and continues to do so. As a result, we got an amazing game that keeps getting better, similar to NMS.

Even so, I can only imagine how soul-rending it must be to have your passion project dunked on because your deadline was more important than your vision. The drive to continue production on such a colossal flop would generally evaporate. It's rare to see a game that ambitious not get abandoned.

The point being, it was a far cry from what they promised. What they themselves intended. They weren't given enough time to cook. On release, the game bombed. In HG's case, they didn't give up on their baby. A decade later, and it's one of the most enchanting space exploration games in existence.

Now it just means meeting your deadline, no matter what state the game is in. When NMS first released, it had two styles of planetary bases you could visit. Cut copies down to some robot who'd somehow be at all of them, space and time be damned. (I still think that should get worked into the lore.)

I've also mentioned in the past that I wish the small developers would stop letting themselves get bought up by big-name publishers, which to my mind is hilarious.

When things were working as intended, getting picked up by a big name publisher meant increased budget, bigger teams, more resources.

I still want a steam deck. One of these days, I'll make it a super late Christmas present to myself. ;_;

Not gonna lie, still haven't had the money to justify picking up TOTK, but I've heard some pretty awesome things. One of these days.

Lmao, legit af advice right there.

On a half related note, I've always hated the default control scheme for (most) fighting games on keyboard. I can't remember the first game to give me the idea, but I started changing them all to wasd and 1-6 on the numpad. Literally life changing if you don't have a pad or stick.

I've yet to find a mouse that has more than like, five buttons on the side, max, that I'm able to use comfortably. One twitch and I smack a button with a ten minute cooldown. Kills me a little inside every time.

I've got a friend who swears by that series. Once I'm not broke I'm probably picking up the collection. You're just giving me more reason to love it before I even try it. <3

Some of the best options I've seen to get around it were command inputs, like fighting game commands, which DFO used, or context/directional inputs, like up/down/left/right/neutral + key = 5 skills on a single key.

I literally hate using those MMO mice with 9001 buttons on the side, too. It's the only way to "comfortably" play in that format, or a USB numpad I guess, but the idea feels backwards as hell. It's the control format that sucks.

Those mice are like a bandaid for a concussion.

Real talk. Executive chairs especially. The ones with the full back and head rests? MMMMmmmm, so good.

There might be one or two people in my past this resonates with. Wish you hit me with the advice a bit earlier tho~
