At this point i am 100% convinced that passport control in UK airports is deliberately awful. But what is the reason for it? Nowhere is that bad. Awful queues extremely long badly designed spaces very confined.
Why? Heathrow today is the worse of all so far.

Are you having a lovely quiet holiday coffee by the lake? Chilling? Why not get a bit of pointless leafblower action in front of you for hours...that will be not annoying. The smell of petrol as well.

The book launch 'The Japanese Pantry' by Emiko Davies in London last night was an intimate dinner with bento box deliciousness cooked by Emiko for a few selected guests, from the book itself; also a bunch of goosies to take home too, by the wasabi company and a tra towel made by Emiko herself!

It has been grey grey skies the past few days in London, and today it just rained and rained and rained...! It's autumn officially here! So it's a soup weather, with butternut squash, sweet potato, sage and pheasant to top it up! Autumn on a plate!

It might sound strange as a concept to have a food history festival online! But this being our first time and all living in different places across the UK it made sense. Plus ppl can join from all over the world. And attendees can watch the talks they've missed later at their own leisure!
October 17, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Join me on the 18th of October at the "Serve It Forth" Food History festival to find out about the "famous chefs" and famous sauces of the ancient Greek world! Tickets still available on Eventbrite!

🧵 3/x
But aside from food the Balkans has natural beauty galore, and wild life and mountains and forests, bears and wolves and shepherds leading a pastoral life, practising transhumance. Cheeses, and meats, and lake fish, smoked pork feature heavily in the diet alongside pies!

🧵2/x:
Well the Balkans has more sweet enticing propositions than you'd think! See for example those two desserts, part of the culinary tradition, stretching back centuries!
Like these two below:
Bled Cream Cake
Rose Baklava
