The only credible defenders of free speech are those who speak up for the first amendment rights of their opponents. Conservatives who defend Kimmel, Liberals who defend Roseanne, etc. That is the whole challenge of free speech: the rest is puritan cancel culture.

I accept that the worried posts about the deaths of libraries, newspapers and the novel are well-meaning but that they all appear online is a bit like hearing Italian chefs complain about the ravages of carbohydrates.

I don't mean to get all science nerdy but this recently released venn diagram seems to locate values which the governing sets do not naturally provoke (i.e. slowness is not associated with youth).
