Siiiiick. I'm currently running a solo gold miner run using a mod. The early days were very risky, constantly running from gangs of bandits. Lately I've been hiring mercs with the profits to defend my mine, and am considering hiring expendable "laborers" to help dig it up.

My theory is that the galactic empire had imported giant beasts for some purpose (likely war) and didn't really care if the creatures survived, abandoned them like they did everything else.
