I think a lot of people see the social victories won by liberalism and believe that, because of that, it’s fundamentally good or at least better than the obvious evil of conservatism. But they forget that everything won was a concession so the machinery of capital could continue to operate unheeded

Running into this constantly. You cannot organize your political structure around capital and material growth and expect it to be able to address the social issues caused by capital. They are fundamentally opposing ideas.
